Book and Cooks – Children love to eat, and they love to cook. What better way to introduce youngsters to different cultures than through food? Our summer program uses stories about food and cooking to give children a “taste” of different cultures around the world. The 3rd UU principle encourages us to learn, grow, and to value and respect each other to build a more peaceful world. Additionally, the stories expose children to lessons about helping each other, being part of a community, being adventurous, being independent, sharing and the importance of family. Check out the church Facebook event for details each week (you don’t need a Facebook account to view this event). We will be posting a story video, chalice lighting, recipe and additional activity ideas every Sunday this summer (plus one today!) These are for anyone to enjoy – not just children and youth. We have set this up so you can participate whenever it fits in your schedule. You can listen to a story read by our own Assistant DRE, Shelby Hunkins. We will host (3) Zoom gatherings on June 28, July 26 and August 23 to share what we have been learning and creating. Check it out!
Youth Events – Our 7th-12th graders will meet via Zoom bi-weekly beginning Sunday, July 5. We may also have a few outdoor programs. Look for details in your email inbox.
