Social Action Shared Offerings on Sunday, March 20 and Sunday, March 27 will benefit organizations assisting in Ukraine.
This Sunday’s collection plate will benefit Direct Relief, an NGO whose focus is providing emergency medical supplies in Ukraine. We will also host a social hour (with real coffee) after worship to share ongoing concerns about this war. Caron Collins will provide some blue and yellow ribbon pins.
Social Action Shared Offerings are chosen by the Faith in Action team in response to suggestions from our congregation. Our view is that Ukraine is such an emergency that we will host a Second SASO on Sunday, March 27 to benefit World Central Kitchen which has been providing food for Ukrainian refugees entering Poland.
The cash offerings made during the next 2 Sunday services will be directed to the chosen organizations, unless otherwise designated. You can also donate online, via mail, or in person over the next 2 weeks. Please memo your donations “SASO Direct Relief” or “SASO WCK”. If you have any questions, contact Sara in the office.
In addition to our efforts, there will also be a Potsdam Stands with Ukraine fundraiser at Maxfield’s in Potsdam on Saturday, March 26, from 12pm until 1:30a.m. A $10 donation at the door gets you access to live music, raffles, giveaways, and Ukrainian food. Proceeds will benefit the people of Ukraine. Read more here.
