It’s a tense and uncertain time. People’s nerves are a jangle. Try one – or all – of these easy suggestions from our own Kathy Montan. And smile.
1. Deep breathing. It may seem obvious, but simply breathing deeply and slowly is very effective.
2. Shaking. Try standing on your tiptoes and bouncing your heels up and down. It becomes a jouncy dance. If you add sounds (any sounds, but Ah is good) it will be even more effective. You can also tense all your muscles and then shake like a dog who comes out of the water. Or, you can put on music and just shake different parts of your body to the music. Imagine that the stress you have picked up from other people is being shaken off of you.
3. Grounding. Imagine that you are a large tree deeply rooted in the ground. The wind may blow, but nothing can knock you over. Imagine letting your stress go down through your tree roots and right into the ground.
