On Wednesday, February 22, at 7 p.m. in the Social Room, the Social Action Committee will host a panel discussion “Rolling Out the Welcome Mat: Collaborating to Make Canton Safe for Everyone.” The focus will be on the student experience in the Village of Canton and making it better. We think of Canton as a friendly North Country village, but is it? For all? How supportive an environment do we have for people of color, of different faith traditions and nationalities, for LGBTQ people?
Panelists will include current students and alumni of SUNY Canton and St. Lawrence University who represent diverse groups within their student bodies.
Canton residents and students from SUNY Canton, St. Lawrence University, and Canton Central are invited to participate in the discussion. The audience will include townspeople, village leaders in business and government, international students, and students from area high schools.
All are invited to participate in the discussion. Light refreshments will be served following the panel.
