The 2019 U-U Social Justice Initiative is currently accepting submissions for our Justice For All Poetry Slam to be held at 7 pm on October 18, 2019!
Writers are invited to submit their work about the impact of incarceration on individuals, families, and communities, particularly from the personal perspective, Speaking for Myself. We are eager to hear from a variety of perspectives to kick off the 2019 Social Justice Initiative with a diversity of voices!
High school and college students are encouraged to submit their writing, as well as others who have been experiencing the realities and impact of incarceration, inside or outside prison walls. We are accepting submissions of 3-4 poems from writers in three categories:
• Youth Writers (up to 21 years old),
• Adult Writers (22 years old and older)
• Writers who are currently incarcerated
The deadline for submissions is September 15; click here for the submission guidelines.
