December is filled with fun events for the holidays. Mark your calendars now and watch for more details in enews, on Facebook, and on Instagram! Here is the comprehensive list so far:
Holiday Jazz and Coffee Night Friday, December 13 at 6:30p.m. The local band, 5 Dots, will jazz up the holidays with your favorite seasonal songs. The performance is free and family friendly. Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to support the Church and Community Program.
Holiday Pageant: The Christmas Story Sunday, December 15 at 10:30a.m. Members of the congregation under the direction of Carol Zimmerman, DRE, will present the story of Jesus’s birth told in the Bible’s Gospel of Luke.
Solstice Celebration Saturday, December 21 at 7p.m. The winter solstice, also called the hibernal solstice, occurs when either of Earth’s poles reaches its maximum tilt away from the Sun. Since prehistory, the winter solstice has been a significant time of year in many cultures and has been marked by festivals and rites. It marked the symbolic death and rebirth of the Sun; the gradual waning of daylight hours is reversed and begins to grow again. Come to soak in the dark and celebrate the return of the sun!
Christmas Eve Candlelight Service Tuesday, December 24 at 7:00p.m. The sermon will explore what the world really looked like for Mary and Joseph as they prepared for the birth of Jesus as compared to the situation in contemporary Palestine.
Buddhist Meditation Sangha Sunday, December 29, 9:30 a.m., community members are invited to renew yourselves and your resolve and prepare your heart and mind for a new year. The meditation will be followed by Sunday worship at 10:30 a.m.
All are welcome to any of these events, so please share with all of your friends!
*Please note: there will be no Nursery or Religious Education programming on these Sundays. We welcome everyone to join us in the sanctuary where we have fidget baskets and the children’s table for anyone who would like to use them.
