Time to brighten the holidays with Giving Tree 2020 – COVID Style.
Obviously, things are different this year – no little tree, no big box, but the organizers at the Church and Community Program have been very busy creating a new process to make sure that the families who have depended on our generosity for years will still be able to celebrate the holidays as in previous years.
With your help, we can supply vouchers for toys/gifts and clothes, plus new PJs and a hand-knit hat or scarf for each child and a food voucher for each family, to well over 400 local children in low-income families. Because of Covid-19, we need your help more than ever this year, since we can’t distribute actual toys and clothing.
Donation envelopes which you can use to support the giving tree this year can be found at the following locations: (1) at the UU Church – Sara will be in the office every Tuesday in October from 8 – 1:30. (2) at the Second Chance Thrift Shop 30 Court Street.
We’re asking you to donate by cash or check so that we can convert it into food, clothing or toy/gift vouchers. If you prefer to use PayPal or a credit card, you can go online to our website (http://www.ccpcanton.org) and click on the link to Giving Tree on the home page. Or you can come into our Second Chance Thrift Shop at 30 Court Street to drop off your cash or check or to use Square to donate by credit card in person.
Whichever way works best for you, we really need your help more than ever this year, since every dollar you give us will be converted into a voucher to help a child whose holiday will be made happier with a gift from you. Vouchers will be distributed to parents who will shop locally for their children, and the amount of the vouchers is wholly dependent on your generosity. We need your check, cash or credit card donation by November 15, whether mailed or online or dropped off at Second Chance Thrift Shop, 30 Court Street. All of us at the Church and Community Program Giving Tree thank you for partnering with us to once again provide a better holiday for a child in need.
