Faith in Action provides varied avenues for congregation members to participate, as they are able, in social justice work, and meets the need for occasional volunteers to support on-going social justice commitments of our church.
Volunteer for Social Justice
As individuals, in groups and teams, and as a congregation, we are in the community and in the wider world volunteering our time to advance causes of social justice. Following are some regular opportunities available through the Faith in Action Leadership Group. You can read more about some of these opportunities on the Social Justice page.
On-going initiatives include:
- Campus Kitchens and Free Will Dinners
- Church and Community Program
- Green Sanctuary projects
- Social action activities in our Religious Education program
Modeling this initiative on our church’s Caring Circle, we seek volunteers who are willing to be on an email/call list when the need for help arises. By placing your name on the list you are not committing to regularly scheduled projects, and you are certainly free to say no to a request. Being part of this circle of volunteers will also allow you to explore activities sponsored by the church but which may be unfamiliar to you.
