Join our Marching Band at the Dairy Princess Parade!
This year, for the second time ever, we are bringing together many friends and LGBTQ allies in the community to form a band to march in this year’s Dairy Princess parade. We will play a fun and simple arrangement of We Are Family.
Although the Unitarian Church of Canton is sponsoring the group, this band is NOT just for Unitarian Universalists! We want lots of our friends and allies for LGBTQ issues to come and play.
We have a few rainbow “whirligigs” for non-playing friends who’d like to march with the band too. We would love to have all generations marching with us- this year we even have a UU Kids banner to carry along. 😊 🌈
Contact Jill Rubio and tell her which instrument you play🎺🎷🥁📯. If you do not already have the music, she’ll email you a .pdf of your instrument’s part so you can work on memorizing your music (or plan to use a lyre in the parade.)
On Saturday, June 1 at 11:45 a.m., come to the UU Church (3 1/2 E. Main St. Canton) back parking lot. The band will practice together in the church social room and then walk over to the parade gathering. The parade begins at 1:00 p.m.
If you are a percussionist, we may be able to lend you a marching drum🥁, but please give us plenty of prior notice.
