Gnostic writings were hated by earlier Christian leaders and thought to have been lost forever. In 1945 an old library was discovered in Egypt that contained many of these writings. One of these findings, the Gospel of Thomas, has parallel sayings found in the other gospels, yet it never made it to the Christian Bible. The Gospel of Thomas sheds new light on our contemporary understanding of spirituality
