This Sunday in religious education, our children will hear a story about a generous elderly badger, hear a story about a tree planter, consider the virtue of courage, continue a photography book project, learn about Ancient Norse Mythology and attend the worship service.
This Sunday our RE Ambassador is Shelby Hunkins.
Nursery will be open and staffed by Barbara Beekman and Coral Pondysh. They will hear the story “Badger’s Parting Gifts”, about a badger who is reaching the end of his life and wants to share his life gifts with his friends.
Spirit Play will hear the story “The Tree Planter”, a violet principle story where we value the interdependence with nature. An elder is out planting seedlings and asks a reluctant passerby to lend a hand.
Teachers: Sharon Tavernier and Jeff Rousell
Moral Tales will be introduced to the virtue of courage, and how this can help us stand up for what we believe is right despite our fears. They will hear a story about a fox, who boasts that it’s courage is greater than the tiger’s. They will also exercise their courage muscles.
Teachers: Esther Oey and Pete Beekman
Maker Space will continue creating a book about taking care of the natural world. They will create a mascot and head out to take some pictures.
Teachers: Kiley Frank and Pete Wyckoff
Neighboring Faiths will explore ancient Norse mythology and faith. Sam McBroom, local librarian and Norse enthusiast will share the basic Norse gods, their realms of influence on daily life and what we know about daily religious practice from those times prior to Christian influence in the North.
Teachers: Mary Michalek and Lorraine Olendenzski
Youth Group will attend the worship service.
