Minister

The Reverend James T. Galasinski began his ministry with us in August 2016.

The Rev. Galasinski grew up in Milwaukee, WI, where he was raised in the Lutheran faith and felt a calling to ministry at a young age. After studying theology and philosophy while pursuing his undergraduate degree in jazz studies, he left that tradition looking for a more expansive and inclusive religious community. While working in the financial industry, he found a spiritual home at the First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee where his call to ministry was reawakened and nourished. 

Before serving this congregation, he served the First Unitarian Church of Albuquerque as ministerial resident. James received a master of divinity degree from Meadville Lombard, a Unitarian Universalist theological school in Chicago. He enjoys listening to jazz and hiking to area waterfalls with his wife, Ulrike, and their two sons, Miles and Oskar.

Jazz
Music, especially jazz, is a passion of mine. I have worked as professional bassist for about 15 years and love going to jazz clubs

Nature
I spent many summers camping in Wisconsin forests. Now I love exploring the nearby waterfalls and the mountains of the Adirondacks any chance I get.

The reverence Emerson and Thoreau had for nature in their Transcendentalist writings have spoken to me since I was young teenager.
