The committee has published three booklets: Prepare: Practical Considerations Before Death (1987); Visiting A Dying Friend (1994); and Five Questions (2009), and has sponsored several informational sessions on issues related to death and dying. The committee has been the primary keeper of the garden, as a sacred place for the remembrance of loved ones.
The Memorial Committee upholds the church’s commitment to families who have honored the memory of loved ones by maintaining the Memorial Garden and Plaque and associated records. The committee is responsible for:
- Care of the garden.
- Maintaining a small library of resources on death and end-of life-issues.
- Providing guidance, in conjunction with the minister, for those planning an interment or memorial at our church.
- Maintaining the Memorial Plaque.
- Keeping records of people memorialized in the garden and/or on the plaque and those who have pre-planned to do so.
- Maintaining a grid of burial locations.
