UU Ministry for the Earth Monthly Full Moon Gathering – October 17, 2024  7pm EDT – 8pm EDT – This full moon is the Hunter Moon, historically a time when people would begin preparing for the winter – hunting and storing food. As we prepare for the election and brace ourselves for more climate-related natural disasters, this will be a time for community care and eco-chaplaincy. Planned Parenthood of the North Country Potsdam Equal Rights Rally in Ives Park – October 19 3-5pm EDT – Equal Rights Rally to educate our Potsdam and surrounding community about voting YES for PROP 1 on the back of their NY ballot in November. Join us to stand up for equal rights by ensuring no New Yorker is discriminated against for their sex, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability status, national origin, pregnancy or pregnancy outcome, and last but not least reproductive health & autonomy which includes abortion. Mosaic’s Fostering Belonging and Liberation Fall Conference in Bethesda, MD, Friday, October 18 – Sunday, October 20, 2024.  The National Fall Conference will be a dynamic, multi-platform gathering for congregational teams and individuals engaged in the work of building multicultural communities with love at their center. Over two and a half days, participants will share in collaborative conversations, innovative workshops, and gain invaluable insights from community leaders within Unitarian Universalism and beyond. Participants will leave with renewed hearts and spirits, with new Mosaic tools in hand, ready to support and inspire others to foster belonging and liberation. Soul Matters Shamanic Journeying – Begins with an Introductory Session on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 6:30-8:30pm EDT. And then meets monthly on second Tuesdays 7-8:30pm ET  from November to February This monthly-meeting small group explores our monthly themes through shamanic practices. Led by UU minister and shamanic practitioner, Rev. Laura Horton-Ludwig, participants learn and practice in the tradition of Core Shamanism, using a safe and ethical method of steady drumming that helps your mind shift into a more meditative state. UPLIFT Transgender/Nonbinary+ Monthly GatheringOctober 22 at 5pm PT / 8pm ET – Join the UPLIFT monthly gatherings focused on trans, nonbinary, and other not (completely or at all) cis UUs. Join us to connect with other trans/nonbinary UUs and co-create support and community across our faith. All you need to bring is yourself (and other trans/nonbinary friends, if you’d like)! The Nudge – Second and Fourth Thursday from 5:00-6:00pm ET in Gunnison Chapel at SLU- At some point, everyone feels a nudge in their being. The Nudge is an Interfaith Dialogue Group responding to the nudge/s in our spirit. Committed to belonging and inclusion, persons of all spiritual/religious traditions and those of none, are welcome to gather as we seek to deepen spiritually by exploring important life questions, values and ideas. The Nudge will explore various contemplative spiritual practices like meditation, centering prayer, and labyrinth walking, to nudge our spiritual imaginations into centering, asking big questions, exploring wonder, making meaning, listening to our inner voices, and awakening our spirits. Take a sacred pause and JOIN US on a journey of self-discovery.

Mind, Body, and Heart Retreat Day on Oct. 26th from 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM (EDT) – with the Insight Institute is hosting an online retreat which is based on the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program by Jon Kabat-Zinn.
